Coat Hook

The Coat Hook has been made from reclaimed English oak. The oak itself is from Foxton Locks in Leicestershire & dates back to 1810.

Foxton Locks are a much loved Leicestershire landmark. Designed in 1810 as an industrial solution to allow canal boats & commercial barges to travel up an inclined slope. Foxton Locks is made up of 10 locks laid out in two staircases.

The whole site was subject to a huge renovation project between 2006 & 2008, this included a complete overhaul of the lock gates. The beams from the lock gates were removed & rescued from a reclamation yard nearby. It was at this point that we were able to obtain some of these timbers & bring them back to life as unique pieces of homeware.

The coat hook is a slice from one of the original lock gates & features the original mortise slots. The hooks added are reclaimed iron hooks & have been fitted to be in keeping with the character of the piece.
